“GIVE TO THE WORLD THE BEST YOU HAVE, AND THE BEST WILL COME BACK TO YOU.” – MADELINE BRIDGES

My earliest memories and into my teens are of a time growing up in rural northern New Jersey where our family home was surrounded by woods, fields, streams, ponds, and lakes. From our front porch we could see the Kittatinny mountains in the distance. It was spectacularly beautiful. My mother always encouraged my sister, brother, and me, to “Go outside and play”; and play we did!

We climbed trees, rode bikes, ran, walked on stilts crafted by my Grandfather, practiced archery with my Grandmother, went sledding down the hills of the yard, skated on the frozen ice during the winter, and swam for hours on end during the summer, in the pond right in front of our house. It was the most amazing playground in which to grow up.

Not only did my mother encourage us to be outdoors, but she was a high school biology teacher. Her absolute awe of everything about the earth was contagious, causing each of us to grow up with a remarkable respect, and reverence, for the planet and all it had to offer. It was inevitable that I pursue a profession in the sciences.

My third and final degree, Geoscience, is what I will proudly be using and building upon for the remainder of my professional experience. As I worked on my graduate research investigating stream salinization, I spent hundreds of hours in the field ensuring the integrity of data by maintaining stream sensor operations, walking the streams to understand their pathways, tributaries, and impacts, communicated with Penn State Master Watershed Stewards, and built relationships with township officials and a team of professionals at Stroud Water Research Center. Now, I share that experience and dedication with the team and clients of BSTI, to ensure a safer and healthier future for our environment for many years to come.

During my time outside of work, I enjoy hiking, biking, and kayaking with my husband Robert, listening to a variety of genres of music, exercising, cooking, visiting family and friends, and continuing with my volunteer projects.
